The traffic meteorological station can accurately and timely monitor the road traffic meteorological environment and road conditions, and can be combined with other monitoring subsystems of the executive department to achieve an intelligent traffic guarantee network system, providing important basis for the decision-making of highway management departments on road opening, closure, maintenance and support. The monitoring items mainly include visibility, weather phenomena, air temperature, relative humidity, wind direction, wind speed, precipitation, road surface temperature, roadbed temperature, and road surface condition. The sensors included in the traffic weather station include conventional 5-element sensors, visibility/weather phenomenon meters, and road condition sensors.

The transportation meteorological station automatically completes the collection and processing of meteorological elements and road condition data, as well as the storage and transmission of minute and hour meteorological data, supporting remote wireless communication (4G) or fiber optic communication methods.
